أعطى أبو اصطيف فرص عمل في شركته الناجحة للكثير من أصدقائه من مدينته اللاذقية. يتكلم دائماً عن مدينته الأصلية والتي غادرها بعد الثانوية العامة ليذهب إلى جامعة حلب ليدرس الأدب الفرنسي ومن هناك إلى فرنسا ومن ثم إلى أمريكا، وبالطبع غير إسمه، لدى البعض إلى ستيف. Abu Steif gave many of his friends from his hometown of Lattakia jobs in his successful company. He always talks about his hometown, which he left after high school to go to the University of Aleppo and from there to France and then to America, and of course he changed his name, for few, to Steve.
